I am trying to backup up dual layer Blu rays to single layer Blu ray blanks using BD rebuilder however the output files sizes are way too small. Typically they are 4-9GB rather than the expected approx 25GB. I have all of the required apps installed (haali media splitter, ffd show, avi synth) and I have made sure that all of these are the latest versions. I have also recently rebuilt my PC using new hardware and a fresh install of windows and I am experiencing the same result on the new PC as the old.
I have tried this many times with different options set within BD rebuilder including setting the output size to be both BD-25 and and a custom size of the correct valiue all with the same result. This also happens whether I select to back up the main movie or the entire disk and irrespective of whether I rip from the original disk or the ISO

I appreciate that I could of course just backup the disk using the small output file however I would prefer not to do this as I would like to preserve as much of the original quality as possible.

This happens on all of the disks that I have tried where the main move is greater than 25GB.

I am sure that this is caused by something that I am not doing or something that is not configured correctly so I apologise if this is a stupid question.

Thanks in advance for your help

Me too, I just backed up Seabiscuit and instead of the final output size being around the usual 23 GB it came out to 17 GB. I tried it twice using different settings and basically got the same result.

Many BlueRay disks will be less than 23GB's if you do movie only backups. This is especially true if you use ac3-640 audio instead of HD audio. The program is smart enough to know this and will not re-encode the video.

Try setting to BD25 disk output size and set the Encoder to Highspeed BD25. The highspeed BD25 option only appears if you select BD25 putput.

  5. It's been doin on all settings I've tried, movie-only, full-backup. But the sizes I have had have been 1.6 ~ 6 GB even with BD25 set. I've been doin some research on it. From some other places i've heard that recent versions of fddshow can do that. I've installed an older version, 2857 i believe, which i understand should be fixed. I'm now testing to see if this fixes the problem and will post exactly what version it is.

  6. You should use the versions of ffdshow, Haali, and AviSynth that jdobbs has tested. They're linked on the first page of the BDRB bug report thread here:

Jdobbs has this to say about the subject:

I mainly do full backups and use the BD-25 size preset. I also frequently use High Speed BD-25, and only with the new beta version (03208) have I had this problem. I decided to go back to the previous version (03207) and all is well again.

Are you overclocking? In my expirence that can cause an x264 error.

  10. Nope, not overclocked. My processor is not very strong, but only goes to 85% as it starts to encode after extracting. I'm not sure if thats the cause but i have doubts considering it happens as soon as reencoding starts and usually is at around 75%
