  1. Hi,

I have been posting a lot recently about my audio sync problems (Tempenc). I recently tried panasonic plugin (with flaskmpeg) and got the exact same results. Basically the audio slips out of sync gradually on my standalone DVD player (aiwa xd-dv480) - but if I interact (ie pause, FF etc) then everything is back in sync. The files also play fine on my PC.

I also remembered that I had other VCDs I created a long time ago using Panasoni plugin and they work fine... the difference ? I lived in the US at the time and made everything NTSC (now I am doing PAL in the UK). Is it possible my DVD player (from the UK) doesn't like PAL VCDs ???

I also remembered that I have some original PAL VCDs that work just fine. I looked at those files on a PC and discovered that the bitrate was slightly lower. I am now trying my own rip at that bit rate.

Any thoughts from someone wiser than myself ????

    Thanks,

    Gareth

This problem is common for XVCDs, ecpecially when they use VBR insteed of CBR which is the only bitrate style VCDs know.
Another reason is the multiplexx. Try BBmpeg insteed of TMPGenc, some times this help a lot for such problems.

  3. Hi,

I am definately using CBR. I used the standard PAL template in TMPGEnc. Why would the VCD I bought (PAL) from Eurekamovies.com have a different bit rate to the template in TMPGEnc ?

    Thanks,

    Gareth

Multiplexxing is a complicated thing and there are paremeters in the header or in the way audio and video mix on the final mpeg very advanced!
TMPGenc doesn't multiplexx audio and video the best possible way, so some standalones have probs with the final files.
De-mux your mpegs and you gonna get a m2v for video and mp2 for audio. Now go to bbmpeg and multiplexx it. BBmpeg multiplexx the file the best possible way, so you eliminate any change to be the problem.
If you still have problems, then it might be something in the encoding proccess: The Gop for example...

  5. Hi,

Tried re-multiplexing using bbmpeg - I still have the same sync problem... Rather than pull my hair out trying to understand this - I successfully converted the file to 23.976 fps and have perfect sync all teh way through. I used cooledit to stretch the audio and then converted it to mp2. I then used tmpgenc to convert the video (selected "do not frameconvert" and used the NTSCFilm template). I used no audio file - but tmpgenc still created a "vcd system". I then multiplexed the audio with the video...

The resulting file stays in sync - but the video stutters occasionally... So - anybody got any ideas on this one ? Should I have specified "video only" in tmpgenc ? if so - how do I do that, the option is greyed out ?

    Many thanks,

    Gareth

  6. If you want to just do the Video after you load your template in tmpge then hit load again go to the extra folder and click the unlock option.

  7. I had the same problem about a year ago. I searched forever about the audio synch issue and found that it was something in my DVD software loaded on my PC. I believe WinDVD (or PowerDVD). I don't recall which one was causing the confilct. I uninstalled one and put on the other and I was golden. What player are you using?
