I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right forum, if not, sorry. I created my own DVD in DVDit. I built a DVD volume in DVDit and used Nero(the newest version of Nero) to burn the volume to a DVD+RW. The DVD+RW will play back fine in my DVD burner drive but I can't get it to play back in anything else. I've tried several different stand-alones and a DVD-ROM in another computer but it won't play in any of them. I'm pretty sure that the problem is not the DVD volume that DVDit created. I think the problem lies in the fact that the DVD is a DVD+RW and not a DVD+R, or the format that Nero used to burn the DVD. When looking in Nero I found that there are several different DVD formats dvd(rom), dvd(iso), dvd(udf), etc. So whats the problem? Is there a specific way I should burn the volume (I know that just the video_ts and audio_ts folders should be at the root of the dvd), or format(udf, iso, etc.) I should use, is it the fact that the disc is a +RW and not a +R(I've read some compatibility lists but I'm still not finding the answer I want.) Anyone with experience in this area please help a guy out.![]()

Do you know if any of your standa alones will read a DVDR(w) ?
Check the models of them on the main page under the DVD PLAYERS link in the top middle.
If the disc is playing in your software player, there's a good chance it's authored OK, but it seems as if your (stand alone) players may not be compatible with your medium (discs)~~~Spidey~~~

With Nero make sure that you are using the latest one 5.5.9.0, and select the DVD (video) option. You know you will be using the correct one if that Audio and video folders will already be there and Nero will not allow you to remove them.
Regarding dvd+rw, I have had excellent compatibility with dvd players burned with Nero. As long as the dvd playeer is relatively new, it should work. One way to check is run down to your local superstore that sells dvd players, and start popping it into all the models. I did this when I first bought my dvd+rw drive, and my current dvd player would not read my discs (of course it was a first or second generation Samsung, so I wasn't holding out hopes). My sample dvd+rw loaded and started playing in over 95% of the players (if not higher, I think I found 2 players that would not play the disc.)
Supposedly, dvd+r has a better compatibility rate than dvd+rw but I have not had any better luck with R's versus RW's on standalones.
Also, just because you can play it on your computer doesn't necessarily mean it was burned correctly. As your dvd rom drive will play all formats, dvd software can just read the files from the video_ts and play it regardless. Dvd players are more picky. Be sure and use the dvd(video) setting in Nero 5.5.9.0 and you should have no problems. I haven't. Good luck.
