  1. Hi everyone,

I'm confused about which program to rip from my dvds. For instance I am doing The Fugitive and in Smarttipper there are 3 programs - one is 2:10, four is 1:50 and 5 is 2:04 (the ones in between are small). I ripped one, but I started to rip 4 and 5 and they all start ripping the vts_01 files. I noticed the same thing with Independence Day - it looks like seeveral versions with different sizes.

What is the difference between them and how do I know which to rip?

    Thanks,
    Deb

smart ripper is whaat i used to cut my teeth in the dvd rip game, but i moved on, vstrip is probably the most versatile, but overall it's tough to beat dvd decrypter. get it and use this http://www.doom9.org/dvddec.htm

  4. Thanks for the replies.

I have DVD Decrypter, but it seemed pretty similar to Smartripper from an inexperienced eye (the kind that just memorizes a few steps that get the job done).

What an excellent guide! I should be able to get a better understanding of what I'm doing. I'll give it a try for my next rips.

The instructions say that it writes to DVD - have you ever tried it for that?

    Thanks!

    Deb

yes it will burn dvd image files. you have to first have an image to input though. i suggest making your image with ifoedit and the imagetools plug in or just omagetools by itself
