  1. i have a pioneer AO4.
    900mhz AMD
    384MB RAM 133mhz
    g-force 2 mx 400 32MB

    and my ripping speed is a constant 2.0x is this right? and how can i speed this process up? or is it my shit PC? also its UDMA 2 on the DVDR and UDMA 4 on the HDD

  2. Pretty much the same specs as my computer, more or less, but I usually get 3-5x speed. Sometimes I only get 2x, and sometimes I get over 6x, but both are uncommon.

    The only thing I can think of at the moment is if you have the dvd-rom on the same IDE as the hard drive. Maybe it doesn't like that. Kinda like if trying to do on-the-fly copying from cd-rom to cd-rom when they are both on the same cable. My computer won't even let me do it that way if I try.

  3. hmmm i had a cdrw connected to the same IDE lead but i disconnected it and its still the same as before. But i will be formating my hard drive soon. so i hope that will speed things up a bit.

  4. is it just me, or am i the only one who thinks the ripping speed is determined solely by the dvd drive's reading speed? in other words, if you had a 1ghz or a 2ghz processor with 1gb of ram and only a 2x dvd drive, you'd only rip at 2x?
