Hi, i have a pretty old laptop PII with 96MB Ram, running NT. It plays vcds, dvds, and movies on disk in general slowly and jerkily. Is there anything i can tweak to have faster playback? Thanks

Make sure DMA is ticked on the Drive properties in system.
Also if yer go to mulitmedia I think it is. Then performance tab. Go to drives and alter the read ahead cache. Try turning it down to 0 or experiment with it -
Well i cant find either of them, but thanks anyway. Remember i am running NT, so maybe these aren't on there, or maybe im looking in the wrong place.

I said it slighty wronng
try his 1 - Control panel - System - Device Manager - Go to drives - right clcik on it and go to properties - Then settings - Enable DMA.
If that doesn`t work
2: Control Panel - System - Performance Tab - File System Tab - CD Rom Tab - Turn CDRom cache down to nothing..
