  1. When ever I use Nero to covert an AVI or MPEG1 file to SVCD , the sound goes out of sync by a couple of seconds. Anyone know why this is or what the solution is.

    Thanks

This is common no matter what you use to convert avi to mpeg1 or mpeg2....something is missed during the uncompression/recompression/encoding process.
I am never happy with the encoding done by Nero...you have much better control over settings and adjustments in TMPG...so I encode there and when I am happy with result, I use Nero to burn.

That said...most audio sync can be fixed by saving just the wav file off the avi and using it at the audio source during encoding...see:
    http://www.vcdhelp.com/virtualdubaudio.htm

If you dont want to reencode ...watch the mpg and determine the amount the audio is out of sync...then use TMPG to seperate the audio and video (under mpeg tools> demux) Then use the cut and join option to remove the amount of time that its out of sync from appropriate file, then remux the audio and video back together.....example: you watch and determine that you hear Rocky say "adrean" 2 seconds before his lips move...then you would cut 2 seconds off the begining of video portion (will be in credits anyway) then when ya rejoin audio and vide....sync is back.....
THIS method is trial and error...and sometime you have to do a second time to get just right....So never delete the original audio and video that you seperated till you are happy.
