All,
I have been attempting to upgrade to MMC 7.7.0.1 for most of the weekend, and everything seems to work fine except the video capture. I adjusted settings, and I've installed & re-installed this thing every way possible. The entire prog works, but when I click the record button, it "depresses" but nothing happens. No capture file is created anywhere on my HD & the little recording window that used to pop up in 7.5 no longer pops up. If I right click the record button and pick one of the selections the same thing happens.
I have an Athlon T-bird a 1gHz with 512meg DDR & PLENTY of HD room. I'm running win2k Pro with svc. patch 3 installed.
Any help would be appreciated, as I'm missing shows left and right!
Thanks,
Anthony

I tried 7.7 but it was very unstable on my system,so I went back to 7.6.
I don't think ATI has worked out all the bugs on 7.7xx. -
I had a similar problem last time I upgraded MMC. I uninstalled, then used control-alt-delete to turn off any ATI stuff that was running in background, then reinstalled. It did the trick for me.
You may also want to go to Roxio's site and get GoBack. It allows you to always go "back in time" and return your computer to a previous state where everything worked. Awesome. I have not noticed any degradation in video performance with GoBack even though it is installed at a very low level and runs all the time tracking every change you make on your computer. Costs 50.00 in stores but more like 30.00 online. -
search for a post i made last week on this. it has to do with FAT32/NTFS file system security permissions. it's an easy fix. change the temp drive and destination drive under one touch record and drive space, and uncheck "always cap to temp drive". then go to the destination and change the security permissions on the ATI MMC folder to 'full control - all users'. add a folder inside it named the same as your logon, and do the same to that one.

As for the reason I wanted to update--7.6 doesn't capture 48kHz sound, but 7.7 does. 48kHz makes a DVD compliant CVD at 352x480. I'll report back if this capture works once I try Patrickm's trick.
THANK YOU!!!
