  1. The audio in my movie is off by -83ms. I can encode it fine in tmpgenc at 29.97 fps, but want to get a smaller file. This template gives me a smaller file, but the ntscfilm framerate causes the audio to get out of sync. I have tried using force film in DVD2AVI and also tried encoding only video with tmpgenc, then using MPEG mediator to create an audio wav, headac3he (-83 delay) to get an mp2, then combining the streams with bbmpeg. Still, the audio is off. How could i fix this problem?

  2. Did you try burning one of the samples, and verifying that the audio/video is in sync, in your standalone DVD player?

  3. If it won't play right on my computer, will it play differently on my dvd player? When i use your template at 29.97 it plays fine on the computer(file is larger, though ). I think my cpu would be able to play it, because i could play vob files perfectly.

if your using Headache to encode your audio and you know its off by -83ms then change it using Headache, it works for me, as i usually use DVD2AVI and create 2 d2v and ac3 files so i can set where the first disc ends, rather than having to split it by filesize, but the second part the ac3 file is sometimes off by 10 to 200ms, under 100 isnt really noticeable to some people, but is to me but it can be fixed using headache or using BBmpeg.

    evening username,

You didn't specify your DVD player/model. . .so, don't 4get 2 add it to your
    computer details later on

One cause of some DVD players (hence, people) and audio synch issues is do
to the large GOP structures. You didn't say WHICH of kwags teamplate you
are using, so I'm assuming you are using those that are not set to 15 PAL,
18 NTSC. I can't quite put my finger on it, technikley, but it does have
something to do w/ the long GOPs.

    >> How could i fix this problem?
    simple, two things:
    * split your dvd2avi source into two or three chunks, and encode, or
    * don't use kwag's template, or
    * BUY another DVD player that WILL plate kwags or anyone else's template!!

The samples on the page have been properly encoded, and the audio/video is in sync. That's why I asked if you had burned one and tried it in your DVD player. This way you can test if your DVD is compatible with a KVCD mpeg, and many MPEG-1 VBR encodings.

  7. The problem isn't getting it to work on my dvd player, which should work (APEX AD-1500), but getting the audio to sync up on my computer. If it doesn't sync on my computer, it won't sync on my dvd either. It encodes correctly when the framerate is at 29.97 in tmpgenc with the audio at -83ms, but at 23.976 fps, the audio is off (keep in mind this is on my computer, meaning the encoding was screwy). When I do the audio through the other programs (-83ms delay in Headac3he) the audio is off. Any suggestions?

  8. I believe I have found the problem. Should have seen it earlier.
The movie plays fine on my computer when encoded with Kwag MPEG 1 KVCD Ntscfilm 352x480, but when using the MPEG-2 SKVCD, the audio is off when viewing on the computer, but is in sync when watching it on my DVD player. Strange, but glad thats fixed . Now a hopefully simpler question: How could I play a MPEG-2 SKVCD on my computer with the audio in sync?

I just don't understand what you problem is, unless there is something you're
not telling us, like it's a divX file w/ odd framerate or something crazy
    like that.

    * You said that you used dvd2avi, and set to force film.
    * next, did you set framerate properly in tmpg? like, set to 23.976
    * and then, set 32 pulldown, as this brings back up the 23 to 29, via
flags for your DVD player. I know that PowerDVD and WinDVD do not always
play properly w/ 32 pulldown is applied in TMPG. But, during a
regular DVD play, it's smoother play, and no audio synch issues.
    * TMPG: in source range, try an audio setting of -8
I use this in pretty much all my DVD encodes, and those lips just siync
    like you wouldn't believe.

Then, again, I like breaking up my encodes into segments, like 1/2 hour
or less, depending on certain condition/factors. Also, when I do my AVI
captures via my mini TIVO (Canon ZR-10 DV CAM) after cutting out commercials
in vdub, I encode each segment seporately into 5 or 10 minute clips,
whichever tv show length of time it is at the time of showing/capturing.
I never capturing and then encode the WHOLE 60 min. show, though I used
to do this, but I remember never having audio synch issues, ie Star Trek
Voyager. Done many of those. Never an audio synth issue. Now, I capture
them and encode them all into 5 or 10 min. segments. Until I have a good
understanding of Menus and Jumps, I'll continue to use this method.

Your case seems to be different because you are using DVD as your source.

Just remember, if you source is true 29.970, under TMPG, use 29.970, NOT
    23.976!!
Also, again, if true 29.970, you may get away w/ Inverse 32 to
reduce filesize some. It works for me under certain condition, ie,
    capturing certain clips, etc.
If your source is 23.976 already, then you set to 23.976!!
If your soruce is 23.976 already, and you set to 23.976, and try the
32 pulldown, and notice autio synch issues, then:
    * A, issues are only during PC play, but DVD will play fine
    * B, your source was not true film source, whatever it may be, ie DVD; divX
etc. or other issues, but I can't go into them right now, as I'm pretty
taxed out - - it's way past my bedtime.

I have the AD-1500 too, And, as many encodes as I have done, be it in
segments or complete one file, I never really had any audio synch issues,
except where I used or tried a new template or some other reason I can't
think off the time of my mind.

Keep trying though. all in all, it might just be how you dvd2avi'd it
or some other area in your process.

How about trying another DVD all-to-gether?

In any case, how about checking out my sample (see below) and testing
out how the audio synch or not undre, PC play and DVD player's play??
Let me know if it worked then.

    Later.

You'r mpeg file is fine. The problem is your software player. You can play it with WMP fine, but on some software players it's out of sync. Like in WinDVD. You can try PowerDVD. I've had the same reports at KVCD.Net. In every standalone player, it works, but not on some software players. Is has to do with the VBR. What I don't understand is why the SKVCD plays out of sync in your player, because that would mean that every SVCD you play, would also be out of sync
Anyway, for test purposes, play your mpegs before burning in WMP. If they're in sync there, they will be in sync in your standalone too
