  1. I've only had this player for a year and a half now, and I have rarely used it. Just last week I noticed it was having trouble reading Layer 2 of any DVD's, it would take awhile to activate them. But now, it doesn't read any disc at all CD or DVD, I simply just get the 'No Disc' message whenever one is inserted. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be?? Your help is much appreciated.

I have the same player, and the same thing happened: it stopped reading any disk, saying "No Disk". And it just happened couple weeks later after one year warranty expired. I went to the repair shop, and they told me that it probably was the calibration problem, or something with the laser, or something mechanical with the drive itself. They told me it might cost about $150~170 to fix it. And I paid $300 for it in August 2000. And I like this player because of the features and very good quality of DVDs, VCDs, and SVCDs playback.
Well, I called my coworker because he was selling the same player, which he bought about the same time, and asked him about the price. He told me $170. So, I bought it. And it still works fine (xsing my fingers)

That's how I fixed the problem. Plus, I have spare parts.
