    can anyone help, is there anywhere on the net I can download firware for this DVD player to enable it to play VCD's

    I have the Dansai 1010 and it plays vcd/svcd and mp3 perfectly

    apparently the new version has the vcd/svcd function disabled was looking to see if there is anywhere i could download firmware or only by getting the disc from the helpline.

    I've just got a 1010 myself as a second player .... searching for the firmware leads to nothing but region hacks.

    I asked Tesco support for the CD a couple of days ago .... no reply so far.

    I'll give 'em a week or so then just return it. Seems a shame because other than this stupid VCD issue, it seems like a good cheap player.
