  1. I got a suggestion off of here to fix my audio in Sound Forge. The problem was/is that I have an avi and the sound is terrible. It sounds like the characters are speaking through bullhorns.
The question I have is how do I fix it in Sound Forge? Or is there a tutorial on using Sound Forge anywhere?
    Thanks!

Do you mean "muffled"? Or, do you mean "too loud"?

Either way, I doubt there is a fix for this, barring a recapture of it. There's little if anything you can do about muffled audio, maybe a sharpening filter somewhere.

If you meant "loud" (like distorted, and lowering the volume on the windows volume control doesn't improve playback), then your source was distorted on capturing. Lower the volume on the input of your "Line IN" port, as well as the source audio if you can. You can always boost volume if it's too low, but not the other way around usually.

If the audio isn't from a capture (but from a DVD rip), your guess is as good as mine...

  3. I think the audio falls under the "muffled" category. It wasn't a capture...it was a telesync. There has to be a way. I just need some sort of guide for Sound Forge so I know how to use the various options.
Thanks homerpez...I know someone has found a fix for this before. Or someone knows where a sound forge guide exists.

  4. Just open Soundforge, open your audio file and look under the menu called "Process." There you'll find such tweaks as an equalizer, volume control and bit-depth converter.

  6. I don't remember where I got the Plug-In's but search the web and you will probably find these. Or ask for them in the newsgroup alt.binaries.multimedia.utilities

I commonly use SF to fix audio.

For Hum Removal use Ultrafunk fx:Equalizer -- there is a PAL and NTSC TV Hum removal!! both work great! -- and if they dont you even have a 50hz and 60hz removers

also the Sonic Foundry Noise Reduction is terrific - use the Default for fast computers (250ms auto-capture) -- even if you dont have a *fast* computer this is your best option - it will just take a bit longer to process

one hint before you use a Hum remover or Noise Reduction is to up the audio about 2db -- just go under Process->Volume and up it 2db

the Sonic Foundry Click And Crackle Remover is also a nice tool

if you have any specific questions on how to and what to do with Sound Forge just email me (or post here) I'm very good with that program.
