I used to make VCD rips of DVDs. This was the method I used:
Smartripper -> DVD2AVI -> TMPGEnc -> VCDEasy
In TMPGEnc, I would use the "source range" setting to split the d2v into two mpeg files.
What I am wondering is this:
Instead of using the other method for going from DVD to DVD-R, can I just go from the d2v and .wav from DVD2AVI to the DVD template in TMPGEnc and make one long file for DVD-R?
(instead of doing the m2v/rempeg2 method I read abouit in the DVD to DVD-R faq)
It seems intuitive, and I want to do it because I have never been able to do it the m2v way, there is always choppiness and audio synch problems.

I don't author DVDR's or encode to them, but I would say SURE. I only do SVCD's / VCD"s
The only issue could be is what type of audio format does the DVD template encode to out of TMPG ? If it's the same as your other method, I'd see no problem. There's plenty of ways to do the same thing. Find what works best for you and enjoy~~~Spidey~~~

What I meant was, the mpeg2 file has the audio embedded (right?)
Has anyone done ripping the way I described?
