  2. Assuming you have a file called xxxxxxx.mpg vcdgear can tell you the framesize and pal/ntsc

If you know for sure it is an SVCD in PAL then burn using Nero an SVCD in PAL format.

No, Vdub wont load Mpeg 2 files....

Most authoring programs should show the structure when you drop in the mpeg, if there is anything wrong they should also tell you what it is.

However burning a downloaded SVCD straight to disk is asking for trouble, if you can use a CDR-W then fine, else you could end up with a scrapped disk. Not knowing if the mpeg has junk frames which could cause a glitch and set the audio out of sync.

I would at least stream it through TMPGEnc using the merge and cut, but using all of the movie, if there is anything very bad, it will crash

    TMPGEnc

File > Mpeg tools > Merge & Cut
Change drop down arrow to MPEG-1 Video CD
ADD > select .mpg > edit

Adding just 1 .mpeg and clicking Run, will re-make the mpeg 1, if during this "streaming save" it hits an error, you will know about it. Either it will save the output up to the error, or crash
