  1. Hi~
I was trying to burn a vcd from some mpeg1 files... I tried burning it for 4 times, but everytime the result turn out the cd become all busted.
    here's what happened:
1- I activated my cd burning proram (nero burning rom 5.xx) and put in an empty cd into the cdrw drive.
2- I selected the files which I wanted to put into the vcd and then I stated the burning.
3- All the buring process seems fine except one thing I notice is that the "Used read buffer" was stopped at 98%, yesterday I was burning some other vcd too, but hte "used read buffer" was at 100%
4- After the burning was finish, I tried to run my vcd on my computer, but then I found out the cd was empty! ( no idea why..)
5- I tried burning AGAIN. using the same cd ( the empty one), and the "used read buffer" was still at 98%.
6- after all the burning was complete, I checked the cd to see if the data was burned on to it, and apparently the answer is yes.
7- Again I tried to run the vcd in my pc, however this time, the cd totally frosted my computer and my cd drive could not read anything out of it!
I tried again for everything steps, but the same result occured again... can someone tell me if my cd burner is busted or not?
if not is there any way to fix this problem??
    thank you.

Does Nero say the burn completed successfully? What speed are you burning at? What software are you using to view the VCD?

BTW, the 98-100% buffer reading is fairly normal.

  3. yes. nero did say the burning was successful, and it was burning at 24x speed... I have already tried a few vcd viewing program but all of them say the cd is empty. I even put the burned vcd into a dvd/vcd player, and it still say the cd was empty.

I have tried to burn the vcd with some other program (ie: VCD EASY), but the result was the same.

Are you using AVI or mpeg 1 ? in Nero
If there is a fault with the source, Nero is trying to convert/fix it. If the writer is burn proof, it could take days to fix it, if it ever does.

TMPGEnc, should be used to make all mpeg 1 movies ready for Nero, even if you downloaded the Mpeg 1, it might have junk frames.

Can you burn a data disc with Nero ok? Also, try burning VCDs at 8x or less.

  6. If "cd become all busted" I have no clue.. But if it empty, I shouldn't even have to ask you this, but what the heck.. You change from "simulate" to "burn" option right? Both nero and VCDeasy default is at "Simulate"
