  1. Why is it that when i try to burn to a vcd using nero, nero converts the mpeg to a .dat file, is it suposed to do that?

    yes - that is normal for a vcd file ... but others here are a lot more vcd guru's to explain exactly why ..

    Dont select burn image select write image.
    This is proboly a ice cream induced thought so i can not take no control for the above statment. :P

    Hi,

    Changing the names is part of the "authoring" done by Nero and is to comply with the standard for VCDs on stand-alone DVD players.

    You may need to install DVD-player software such as WinDVD to play it on a computer (I don't use VCDs so I can't check).

    Your stand-alone player may not play VCDs; check the "DVD players" section in the left-hand column of this screen.
