hvr, I just downloaded the latest VCDImager 0.7.9 and read the manual. There is a new (?) class, that is supported by VCDImager, HQ Video-CD 1.0.
What are the specs of this class/version?

it's very similiar to a SVCD; it's defined in the IEC62107 specs for compatibility with some exotic players it seems...
the only difference are, that there's another system id in the INFO.SVD
('HQ-VCD' instead of 'SUPERVCD') and that the system profile tag is set to 1 instead of 0...
another difference (which makes no difference for vcdimager, since it creates both files all the time):
for SVCD only the SEARCH.DAT is mandatory
for HQ-VCD only the SCANDATA.DAT is mandatory... -
I guess those, who support HQ-VCD type SVCD's but not the usual ones...
since I assume, that those are very few dating back from the time, when the SVCD spec wasn't finalized/decided upon yet, I called them 'exotic'
the specs just mentions something like '...to be applied for compatibility with current products in the market'; there's nothing more explained about it...
