  1. Hi Everyone,

I made a backup of Jurassic Park and it looked perfect playing on the computer (looking at the VIDEO folder through my DVD player). I had to resize slightly and made a half-assed menu, but it was pretty good.

I burned the DVD and first the initial menu was missing - just a grey box. The second menu is OK, though. When it plays there are slight stops and starts and some blockiness. I used Prassi to Burn and used a Pioneer DVD. I wasn't doing anything else with the computer when it burned. I have a fast computer with plenty of RAM.

Any ideas what the problem might be??? I didn't expect this because the preview looked fine.

    Thanks for any input.

    Deb

deb, i have the same problem as you. i made a back up of behind enemy lines. i ripped the dvd with dvd decrypter, then burned the video_ts file with the dvd iso/udf mode of nero 5.5.9.0. i used a pioneer disc.
the disc played fine on my computer. so i gave it to my brother to try on his sony dvp 335. he said the disc would play, but it skipped. i'm not sure why this happens. i dfon't think it's because i used the iso/udf mode. but it might be because of the burn speed. i burned the dvd at 2x. what speed did you burn your disc at deb? maybe some players can't handle dvd-r's burned at above 1x.

  4. Sounds like the curse of the 1.49 disc to me

  6. Thanks for the replies!

Yes, I used a Pioneer DVD at 2x speed. The 2x speed sounds possible because of similar problems I had with my old cdwriter. I always had to write at a slower speed than my drive was rated for.

The skips were surprising enough, but I was really stumped by the mostly missing menu.

Maybe I should just try reburning at a slower speed.

i had the same skipping problem with vcd's i burned at 8x. so burning at 1x seems like the way to go with dvd-r's then. thanks for telling us it worked deb.
