  1. Well, I don't need to explain my question that much more.
Which tool can I use to convert WMV files into MPG(VCD) or AVI???

  2. There are guides that describe this (see how to section). The simplest way is to use TMPGEnc and open the WMV file (use all files option on the file open dialogue and browse to find your WMV)

  3. Wish it was that easy.
First of all, the website doesn't work at the moment.
Secondly, I have used TMPGEnc to try to convert it, but the program comes with the following error message: Illegal MPEG video stream.
I am able to play this file by Windows Mediaplayer tho...

  4. Otherwise the only other method I have used is Graphedit which is a bit painful. Wait for the website to come back up, there is a detailed guide on this method. I have always had luck using TMPGEnc, it sound like your WMV file may be faulty (but one Windows Media Player is tolerant of). Hope you get to convert it ok.

I'm sure I've used DVD2AVI to convert a WMV file. Select the WMV file as if it were a .vob file from a DVD. I can't remember all of the details, but it must have been fairly striaght forward or would have given up. I think I converted to .avi then used tmpgenc to get to mpeg.

  8. Last week i figured out an website which tells how to encode. I donīt know the site but i can look it up.

    The essential is this:
1)reencode with Windows media encoder (free; and it seems to be lossless)
2)encode to avi with Virtual Dub
    3)encode the avi with TMPEG

I can look up the exact prozedure. I just started to test it and it seems to work!

  9. djvyrus - if you havent figured out how to go from WMV to MPG or AVI try VideoPack from STOIK. It does exactly that, and its simple and relatively fast. (www.stoik.com) -- oh yeh... its FREE, too.
