Got one of the above cards running XP. Loaded the latest WDM drivers
from Hauppauge. PowerVCR works okay on the card and records both
channels (though need to confirm that my reception is stereo) and the
stereo indicator is on for the channels. OTOH WinTV2000 only shows
mono for all channels when I know they are broadcasting NICAM stereo.
Next problem, trying to record in AVI format using either iuVCR or
Digital VCR (www.digtv.ws). Both appear to be using the DirectShow
drivers(?) to access the card. Both tune into the channels okay but as
soon as I start recording, the right channel cuts out which is quite
strange. Once recording is done, the right channel is still out and
can only be recovered by changing the channel using the tuner applet
and then going back to the first channel.
I suspect the WDM drivers from Hauppage given both apps have the same problem. Also tried nanoDVR which is available to Hauppauge users from the Hauppauge web site. This is bit of a clunky recording app in that it records to MPEG1 and encodes the sound after the recording is done. But it also uses the WDM drivers and also loses the right channel
sound
Anybody else with this problem? I have sent notes to Hauppauge to see
if they can help
Thanks
