  1. I have platoon in wide screen 525x288 I think and it is all brocken up when I play it from my apex ad-1500. I also tried 480x240 to try to get a legal resolution but it flashes a faint white. I am using

    audio 224
    525x288 and I also tried 480x240

  2. You need to use 480x480 for SVCD or 352x240 for VCD. 525x288 is not a legal res nor is 480x240.

  5. U have to add the "Black Bars" top and bottom.

    try resizeing it to 480x421 (PAL) and add the blackbars so the height gets to be 576. If it is a NTSC source do it 480x352 and add black bars until height is 480. Use the resize filter in Virtualdub for instance.

Well if you are looking at it on your computer the movie will look skiny but when you put it on a SVCD and play it on your DVD player it will look fine don't forget to set it as widescreen when encoding. I only added this post before you could post what kind of file you have is because dude above is making it seem a little hard. Plus have you even looked at the guides on this site they will tell you how to make the VCD or SVCD just like you want it and once you have gotten good at making movies you can set it to your liking.
