  1. HI!
I have downloaded a file in .avi and converted it to vcd (I am about to try svcd). It plays back fine on my computer.

The problem is I cannot play it on my dvd player. I am from the UK where the dvd's are generally a different region from japan and USA (i think).

If i downloaded the file from a USA source (where the dvd region is different) does this mean that it is incompatible from the start and that I can only play UK region dvd's on my player. Or can i convert the file somehow or is there something else I can do?

    many thanks

Good luck with your sony. I have the s330 that claims vcd compatiblity but was never able to create one that would actually play. I finally gave up and bought the 3 disc apex which works wonders. Dont know if they're available in the UK but these machines will play anything you throw at them.
