  1. 8) Hi There:

    If anyone could help please...

My DVD player will not recognize my VCD disc.

I have a Yamaha 5 disc DVD Chnager and when I try to create a VCD from and AVI (converted OK) or MPEG1, the DVD player will not recognize VCD stating "This disc cannot be played"

I checked with the DVD manual and it DOES NOT play SVCD, CDR(W), DVDR(W), but it will play VCD and MPEG1 & 2.

So what settings do I use to create the VCD so it will play on this DVD player?

I have used both XP (Roxio) software and NERO 5.572 (using the VCD format in both PAL and NTSC) and was about to try your forum suggested TMGPEN software, but will I just be making more cool coasters?

I tried different disk types/makers in both CDR and CDRW as well as recording at a slower speed. NOTHING WORKS.

Any help or hints will be appreciated

  2. Hello.

I think you already answer your question : No cd-r and cdrw.

Then I dont think you will be able to play any VCD created with your pc.

    Sorry

  3. That's right...

There are several DVD-Players that don't read CD-R or CD-RW at all. You can proove it by trying to play an AUDIO CD-R you burnt. If it doesn't work, you know why.

Next time you buy a DVD-Player you should seek one, that's able to play these Mediums.

My Personal Favorites are Philips. No troubles at all. They play just everthing, even the cheapest ones.

  4. I think the reason is : the laser used to read the CD is not enough accurate to read the CD-R.

I own a Pionneer DV-343 and it's great. Read everything.

    Bye
