  1. I would like to create music video's using clips from the X Files. I have 5 seasons on DVD. I want to be able to edit in Adobe Premiere adding titles, transitions etc. I previously captured with the Dazzle DVC but the results are less than satisfying. I need to be able to send the video's I make via internet to fellow fans, but I also need to burn the finished products to VCD...I have a JVC Karaoke Player that supports the format.

I've figured out how to grab the vob files from SmartRipper, then I get hung up. (Curious I see a Cell 1 and Cell 2 marked however in your ripping guides I only see Cell 1 listed what's the Cell 2 for?)

I used DVD2AVI to create the d2v? file. Then opened that file back up and tried to Save AVI...using no compression and recompression=0 bytes each time (no file) and then tried the Huffy codec, which when I tried to play in the WMP was a colorized scrambled picture. What exactly does the Save AVI feature do?

Adobe allows the handling of the following. Video formats: Type 2 AVI, MOV, and Open DML (Windows only) I need great to excellant quality clips to work with at first, what steps, settings will give me the best quality?

    Thanks, ILUVXF

You can save to .AVI directly using DVD2AVI. No need to introduce an extra step involving a d2v file.

  3. So what are the steps to do this? I've tried loading the vob(s) clicked on Save AVI, picked uncompressed....but the resulting file is empty? The only time I've gotten anything is when I use one of the codecs, however they play back blocky/pixelized or just scrambled when I've tested them in Adobe/WMP...I tried using the Vfapi conversion screen too...and still end up with blockiness. Just call me confused.

Is there a guide that explains all the functions of DVD2AVI?

Use TMPGenc 2.56 or later and you can convert your VOB and save as an AVI, and open in Premiere. Happy video editing!!!
