  1. Hi
i want to convert a divx5 with ac3 sound to a mpeg2 dvd compliant file.
i used DVDit, but the image quality is very bad if i convert the divx with it.
is there a way to rip the ac3 audio out of the divx, then convert the divx to mpeg2?
i know i can merge them afterwards with DVDit, by just adding the mpeg2 and the ac3 file.

You can follow part of the DivX to VCD guide on this site to extract the AC3 audio from the video.

Not sure how this will make your video look better tho..

  3. Strip the audio from the divx using virtualdub. Select Audio->full processing mode, File->save wav. rename the file to mymovie.ac3.

Convert your divx to mpeg2 using Tmpgenc (see guides for help), converting video only. Author to DVD format with Spruce Up (AFAIK, this is the only DVD authoring proggy that will accept AC3 audio tracks)

    Hope this helps

Oh yeah, there is lots of help in the various guides linked on the left of the page.
