  1. Hi All,
I've tried both suggested methods (using MPEG Merge/Cut and MPEG Multiplex) to create a burnable SVCD file for use on a Panasonic RV-31 DVD player. I'm using Nero and un-checked compliant VCD. Video looks great on the player (Panasonic RV-31), but the audio is very choppy.

Anyone with any other tricks or suggestions? I've also tried to create XVCD, but have been unable to use TMPenc to create the file.

BTW, the MPEG2 files I've used in testing were created using ATI All-in-Wonder 128 video capture. Video captured @352x240, 29.97fps, vbr of 3,200,000. audio captured @ 44100Hz, 128Kb.

Any suggestions or advice to cure the choppy audio?

    TIA and regards,
    wumpus.....

  2. wumpus,
I have the same RV31 and the same capture card, and I WAS able to use TMPGEnc 2.51 to make XVCD at MPEG-1 704x480 at CBR 2500 kbps. I was in the process of testing and comparing settings when I upgraded to 2.56, which won't let me do much of anything with the same captures, like before. Also, I have been using Nero to make VCD in non-compliant. I, too, am looking to cure the choppy audio. Maybe at least you can make XVCD with above settings? My capture template was simply "Best Quality" setting, MPEG-2 NTSC(525), 640x480, CBR 8000 M Bit/sec.

  3. glaze,
Thanks for the response. I will give the XVCD a try. I'm not at my home PC right now and I don't recall the version the TMPGEnc that I'm using. But I believe I have an older version on that same machine. So if I have 2.56, I can revert back to an older version.

I will post back either tonight or tomorrow on how I make out with the XVCD. If you have any better luck with the SVCD, please post back.

    Thanks again,
    wumpus.

  4. I have the RV41 (RV 31 plus DD5.1 decoder I believe) and have used the Tmpgenc simple-multiplex with VCD headers on several downloaded SVCD's with mostly success, only Spiderman failed on me. I have not done this on my own SVCD's as I don't encode SVCD, only VCD for low qual stuff and DVD for high Qual stuff.

Basically it works for me most of the time. Just remember in Tmpgenc, ensure you have selected MPEG-1 Video CD before hitting run.
