Actually I meant ask virtualis. micheal used to only recommend vcd players for vcd playback and recommended against dvd players. but that was a along time ago (maybe 10-12 months ago). i recommended dvd players back when the chineese were flooding the market. dvd players can pretty much handle the SVCD challenge.

  4. so the answer is probably no...vcd players will have a hard time with svcd. try a cheap dvd player and you should have no problems playing vcd/svcd formats.

    thanx...if i convert a file to mpeg2 does it make it better quality???

    if you're converting from mpeg1--no
    if you're converting from a DVD rip or other high quality source to mpeg 2, then you will get better quality than converting to mpeg1
