OK, So I haven't tried encdoing DVD yet, only DivX, yet I think it's taking too long !!
I converted LOTR to 3 VCD's from DivX, 60 mins per disc, but TMPGEnc 2.56 took 3 hours to encode each mpeg, and then when I tried to burn them with nero it gave me an error saying they weren't in the right format, and took another 1hour 20mins to re-encode before burning !!
In total it took me about 15hours to convert, encode and burn a 3 hour film !!!!
Am I doing something drastically wrong ? and if so what ?
I'm using a PIII 850 CPU and 256meg RAM, with loads of HDD space (about 10gig)
HELP !!!!!

encoding is a slow process. in the past i have spent 40+ hours on one movie. if you want to go quicker, change your settings or get a faster cpu.
