  1. I am having serious trouble trying to write to DVD-R & DVD-RW with my new Pioneer DVR-104.

Does'nt matter which application I use I get error messages which seem to vary each time I attempt to burn.

Just tried NERO (new version) and got a communication error although files seemed to have burned ok
I erased disc and tried again now Nero insists I am using the wrong media and keeps asking me for a CDR or CD-RW, WTF

Only managed one sucessfull burn & that was with PrimoDVD, but that does'nt want to work again either

Also in explorer drive shows up as DVD-RW Drive until I insert any media then it says CD DRIVE.

    Anyone got any advice?

p.s. I have set the DMA options to PIO only, didn't make any difference.

    Cheers

    Nige.

    hi
i've got a 104, and the latest version of nero and mine works fine, it must be the way you have the dvd writer connected to the computer, i have got my writer on a seperate cable to the harddrive, make sure the jumpers dvd drive are set correctly, ie slave or master. the only other thing i can think ,is, you need to use dvdr minis to work.

Set your 104 as the MASTER of the SECONDARY IDE channel and your other writer as the SLAVE of the SECONDARY IDE channel. I've had problems when there is another writer onboard, so disconnect your other writer, boot the system and let it find the 104 first. Then reconnect the other writer and let the system find that one. As long as the system finds the 104 first, I usually don't have problems.
