I have recently come by cinema craft sp encoder. Can anyone tell me whether the quality of its encoding is worth the learning curve to know how to use it? I know and really like Tmpge now. I just wanted to hear what any of you think. I will simply be using the encoder to change avis into mpeg 1 for vcd. The little I have played with it, it seems quite fast but I have yet to let it fully encode a movie. b][/b]

Cce actually doesnt encode mpeg1 very well. If all you are doing is encoding mpeg1 than its probably better to use TMPGenc. The only reason to use cce in this case would be the speed improvement so all I can say is do a test encode and see if you notice any drop in quality. CCE really isnt hard to use at all. I don't see it as being any more complicated than TMPGenc. Just make sure and get an avisynth script generator like fitcd or gordianknot. These will basically do almost all of the work for you.
If you ever decide to make svcds or dvds than you should definitely at least try using cce. It is certainly much faster than TMPGenc, or any other encoder on the market for that matter, and it is arguably higher quality than TMPGenc as well.
