    Hi

Thanks for the link, gosh what controversy... I thought it was a good film, it was available in the UK, but currently deleted. I'm told it might be released again on a special occasion.

The other day I downloaded a bit of it on Kazza, but it turned out to be corrupt..

Well NTSC is out then, so I need to keep a look out for a PAL version.

    Thanks

  6. King John: I have a laserdisc of this movie which is NTSC. It is an imported one from Japan and there are some Japanese subtitles in a few places (songs I think), but dialogue is English. It's very easy to make a VHS copy of laserdisc. Email me (in profile) if interested. I only charge cost of post and blank tape. (under $5 U.S.)

Because of this thread i downloaded Song of the South just to see what was so "unpolitically correct" about this movie. There seems to be several versions out there, some have better quality than others though. I thought the movie was great, with all the songs and animation, it was very entertaining. I know this movie doesn't represent real life, it represents a movie of songs, stories and lessons to be learnedl.

  10. here's how old i am-i had a Disney book-and-record set of Song of the South when i was a kid...a re-release will probably never happen. Disney already has their hands full with all the churches boycotting them, i can't see them putting SOTS back out without taking just as much heat.

It was available in the UK up until last year, I was asked for it this year, so missed it. There might still be a few copies around the UK unsold.

"Disney" are Disney, I dont think they give a hoot

  13. King John, i used a peer-to-peer sharing program called Winmx. Other programs are Kazaa, Gnutella, Grokster... Anyway, i searched for Song of the South on winmx and was able to download it in just one night (i have cable 8) ) . It was in two parts (both disks were about 470 meg each) and vcd ready. So good luck finding your laughing place!

I also have cable, I download 700Mb in 30 min if there are good connections.

I would appreciate a signature file for it

Just found part 1 and 2 and a ASF, someone out there is reading this
    Update, nah they went offline...

You use "Winmx" uuuuggggghhhhh, Ill stick to Kazaa

I do have a copy of the movie, "Song of the South" as PAL VHS tape recorded from TV. It is somewhere in my collection. I have to find it.

So, you want NTSC VHS tape, I can't really help you. You can send a message into my PM.

I have a friend who has been wanting a clean copy of this movie in NTSC for years, so far he has a crummy one but thats as good as he has gotten. I told him if he ever finds a clean tap to send it to me and I'll turn it into a DVD for him. But he's not been able to find one yet.

Well there has been a few people read this thread and make it available in P2P I have managed to get the first 30 minuets of the movie downloaded.

Will the guy in Timbuktu who has part 2, with a 22.8K modem, please go out and get cable !!.

The download speeds has so many zeros in front, that I wondering if its actually getting anything each day I have also found several other downloads, but keep loosing the connection, so I guess those persons are just checking there email, before closing down.

The first 30 minutes I got was in ASF format "Song of the South - Disney part1.asf" 118, 702 although a few junk frames, TMPGEnc converted it into a good Mpeg, considering the age of the movie and its source, quality is very good.

So where is "Song of the South - Disney part2.asf" Someone must have it

I cannot record NTSC VHS, only VCD. But once I have the whole movie, I'll clean it up, and share.

what did you download ? an uncompessed AVI ? 2.25gig would be alomst 3 hours in mpeg format, and the movie is nowhere near that long.

  21. it was the dvd version.. i'm not sure why it was only 2.25gigs though.. ya figure if someone was going to go to the trouble of vidcapping this they would have used the full 4.7gb of space available to them for a dvd-r... i guess its just one big svcd though.. the quality is still pretty good though..
