  1. I was able to create a VCD menu using the newest version of Nero. However, when burned with the 15 (and i've tried less) chapters of music videos as I would normally do with a non-menued VCD, when it starts up, all I see is the menu. I am able to switch between the menu pages (i.e. page 1/3, 2/3 etc), but cannot scroll or switch between chapters, or play any of them for that matter. Does anyone know what the heck is wrong, and what i can do to fix it? thanks a lot!

  2. have you been able to use chapters before? the first time i used chapters, it didnt work for me, but i had to press the number next to the video i wanted to watch, then hit the enter button, on my dvd controller. so try hitting the "01" button on your controller then enter i guess..

  3. no, it doesn't work ----i suppose that all that is burned onto the cd is the menu. When I tried doing a svcd, it says I need the mpeg 2 codec because nero is not authorized and gives some copyright explanation or something. Please advise, thanks!

  4. I believe that Nero needs a plug-in to encode MPEG-2 (and thus SVCD and DVD). Ahead doesn't put the MPEG-2 codec in the basic Nero, probably because that allows them to skip paying the royalty for that item, which allows them to price it a bit lower than would otherwise be profitable. It does, unfortunately, make it problematic to just burn an MPEG-2 file that you already encoded with another encoder. I'm not sure if you can burn a non-compliant SVCD and skip the Nero MPEG-2 codec that way (I never tried that myself, probably worth a try).
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."
