Hi everyone, i've spent months trying to figure this out for myself using all the unoffical and offical dazzle newsgroups but i can't find a solution.

I have an AMD K6 700 Mhz, 512 SD ram, on board video (64mb shared), on board sound, on board network card, 40mb hard drive (72 rpm i think) a cable modem and the dazzle DVC 2 Pci. I'm running Windows XP with Movestar 4.24 and also TWNH.

When i first bougt the card a year ago it worked fine, i could capture under SVCD conditions at 10,000 KB perfectly, convert it to either VCD or SVCD with TMPGEnc and burn with Nero, producing a great looking CD. That was under windows 98 before i got the cable modem or an extra 256 ram (i only had 256 back then).

Now i've tried using windows 98 SE and XP and i can't get the card to work in either. This is what happens;

I can only capture SVCD at 5000 kb and only with variable bit rate, if the bit rate goes over 5000 or i turn off variable then the picture skips, jumps, hangs, goes blocky! It works fine at 5000 but still, every now and again it hangs for a few seconds.

I am at my wits end, i have tried everything, i tried all of the options on Dazzle's forum, such as optimizing my system, i have no conflicting software or hardware (as far as i know). I have tested so many different combinations of capturing but i can't beat 5000k VBR. Because i want to achieve the best possible quality avaliable i want to capture at 10,000 CBR and then change it with TMPG.

The only other thing is that when i capture under lower settings, the video will randomly stop recording, sometimes at 5 mins, sometimes after an hour!.

I have fomatted my hard drive at least four times and used two operating systems. One thing i have been looking at is maybe a faster hard drive, or perhaps a PCI video card, someone please help.

BTW If anyone is having problems with Moveistar crashing when you click the record button try uninstalling the Nimo codec pack, worked fine for me afterwards.
