  1. If I set the bitrate at 2000 kbps will create a better quality video without seeing the blocky view? Or should I go for the SVCD? I have about 2 1/2 worth of vhs tape to transfer into CDs. I'm trying to avoid using Tpmeg encorder as it take forever to do it.

    I would go with a SVCD if your player can handle it because you can use a multipass VBR for encoding, which will let you maximize the quality of your final mpeg while still fitting a good amount of material per disc.

  3. Thanks Fantomlord. I'll go for the SVCD. My Pioneer DVD player can play SVCD and XSVCD whereas the max kbps is 2500.

    For those of you whose players cannot handle SVCD, an XVCD is a good choice .. but keep in mind, after a certain threshold, increasing bitrate on MPEG-1 video is a waste. I think that threshold is about 1.8Mbps.
