  1. I recently joined the 21st century and purchased a DVD player. I have the Classic DVD102 from EMI Global. I got a great deal. What I am wanting to know is if any knows if it supports multi-region DVDs?

This model has been discontinued and I have not been able to find out for sure if I can play other than region 1 (usa) DVDs on it. I did find one website that implied that it is a true multi-region DVD player, but they dont carry it anymore and could not tell me. I sent the company an email but have not heard back from them.

If anyone out there has one, or knows how to check I would appreciate any help you can give me. If anyone knows of a remote hack I can use for it, I will be more than happy to try that as well!

    Thanks

  2. I looked around and found a hack for this model that I thought I would share. Actually, I found two.. the second of which seems to work for me.

    Hack One:

    1. Using the remote, press SETUP

    2. Press NEXT

    3. Press STOP

    4. Press PAUSE/STEP

    5. Press PREV

    6. Press NEXT

    7. Press SETUP to exit

You should now be in the menu allowing you to chose DISABLE for the region. If this hack does not work (it did nothing on my unit) then try this one.

    Hack Two :

    1. From the remote, press SETUP

    2. Press VOL UP

    3. Press VOL DOWN

    4. Press VOL UP

    5. Press VOL DOWN

    6. Use the left / right arrows to change the number in the corner of the screen to 255 to disable region checking.

    7. Press SETUP to exit

I applied the second hack to my dvd player and it accepted it ok, even after I turned it off and on. The setting was still there.

NOTE : I have NOT tried a different region DVD in my unit yet, I dont have any. I have ordered one and it should be here in about 2 weeks tops, I will post the results then.
