  1. Can I make my CDR w/ an MPEG-2 file on it contain autoplay? I have a movie I edited for a company that is about 15 min. long and I made CDR's that aren't VCD's but that just have the MPEG-2 on them. Some of their affiliates they send them to obviously have problems playing it. Can I make it easier? What about the European affiliates they send them to? I included Windows Media Player 7 on each disc with the MPEG-2 movie so they could install the player if they don't have it. Yet some people are such babies that they want the disc to just "autoplay" when they stick it in. They won't even just open the disc and open the file or drag it to their drive. Should I include the newest version of the Quicktime player on the discs as well? Please give me your insight on how to make this easy for computer illiterates or just plain whiners. I don't know how to make this a universal deal. Thanks a lot.

  3. By default, most Windows compatible computers will not play Mpeg2's... You hafta have the right codec...

If you would render to Mpeg1, then most any machine would play it with its default version of Windows Media Player...

Also, there are utilities on the net to set up autorun. With that and an mpeg1, your associates could just pop it in and it would play automatically...

I think the heart of your hangup is the Mpeg2 file...

    You can only have two...

  4. Easy. Get professional setup software (like InstallShield) and
a limited mpeg2 license. On the install, check for capabilities such
as mpeg2/windowsmediaplayer/directshow) via the registery and
set for install for any missing items. Remember, don't give
win95 users WMP7 at any cost. The latest versions of InstallShield
will even write the .autorun for you ( ).

If you plan to cut corners and just write a autorun link
to a zipped mpeg2 installer..then get ready to be sued big time
as you'll zap maybe 20% of your customers.

  5. yes you can create a autorun svcd/vcd. You need to create a autorun.ini file and place it on the main part of the cd and not in any folders. I tried this once and it worked for me no problems
