  1. I want to know what everyones best Template is that they have. I am sure that some of you have your favorite settings. I am looking for your best VCD NTSC settings. Since it is a pain in the arse to actually type everything in i would love if you would send them to me at mtierce28@hotmail.com
But if you do want to type it all in then ....ok. Thanks it would be much appreciated. By the way the program settings i am looking for is the TMPEnc program.

  2. It all depends on what you are after. Whether you are after a template which will allow you to store the most video possible on a CD or the one which will offer you the best quality. If you want one for the most storage I would recommend Sefy's template which is available in tools section of this site. If you are after quality I would consider burning using SVCD or XSVCD.

  4. then all you can do is make either standard vcd's or xvcd's. xvcd's don't have better picture quality, their still 352x240, but they can help with motion trouble. personally I have never seen a difference between vcd's and xvcd's, and xvcd's take up more room on a disk. you might as well just make standard vcd's

  6. Xtreme,
I'm afraid you've already got the answer.
If all your player will handle is standard VCD then that's the only template you can use. You can play with quality settings and filters within it but it's the only possible template.
The fancy templates that people use are all for XVCD or SVCD of some format.
Sorry mate but that's the way it is.

  7. Ok i understand that but let me see if i can word this a little better, i was wondering what everyones best quality settings are for there VCD's. I know that is all i can use for a format. But you can save them and use the same settings later and that is called a template as well. I just want to know what the best settings people have found for VCD's.

  8. Well, i just use the normal VCD template and set the motion search precision to highest quality, but that's about it. And maybe deinterlace if needed..
    But that's it.

  9. I'll go similar to Riot_Inc. The only difference I'd make is to use only High Quality unless it's something with heaps of fast movement or is not replacable.

I've found the biggest picture improver is to actually capture at highest res possible with the brightness on your capture card set up a bit and then use VirtualDub to frameserve and filter the AVI. After capturing at full PAL res ( 702 X 576 ) I then use the Smart Deinterlace, 2-1 Reduction ( high Quality ) and brightness/contrast filters. This has produced excellent results as long as the source was a good quality tape. Done this way, a standard 45 minute TV show takes about 12 hours on an AMD K6 2 500.

    Good Luck.
