XVCD aspect ratio

I'm trying to make an XVCD using TMPGENC 2.53 (and DVD2AVI).
In the video tab I'm using: size 480x576,
aspect ratio 4:3(PAL),
frame rate 25 fps;
in the advanced tab source aspect ratio 16:9 625 line (PAL),
video arrange method full screen (keep aspect ratio)
the problem is that the video is vertically squeezed a little bit comparing it with a SVCD version of the same video.
I'm using either WinDVD or PowerDVD.
Can anyone tell me why and what to do to have the correct aspect ratio (like the SVCD version)?

try burning to a CDRW(if possible) and checking it on your standalone.
it might look better--I believe I remember hearing that WinDVD and PowerDVD do that to videos.
