  2. from another poster Gary:

    Try this:

Start regedit and remove the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{87D62D9 4-71B3-4b9a-9489-5FE6850DC73E}\InProcServer32.

    I haven't had a problem since.
    works like a charm........

  3. Be very careful deleting anything in the HKEY.
One wrong move could be disasterous.

I would look at something easier first like...
it can't be removed because it was renamed
    or
because it was the last file to be played in Media Player perhaps.
    then if that does'nt work...
go into Explorer and try to delete from there.
Don't meddle in the registry if you don't know much about it.

  10. Hey

I've got the same problem, but it won't help me using the regedit. I couldn't even have that directory.
Also using this tricks didn't help me http://forum.vcdhelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=95124&highlight=delete+avi. So if somebody know's what else I can try, thanks.

    Greetings Cruzz.

    Hi,

I have lots of similar problems.

Sometimes just waiting a while (10+ minutes) allows deleting. Sometimes rebooting and quickly deleting works. What always works is using Admin. Tools... Disk Manager and (forcing) a reformat -- obviously this can only be used on dedicated drives.

I'm going to try deleting the above key too.

  12. Noooo!
I did have this problem until someone helped me out...
WinXP is busy trying to create that little preview that shows up on the left side of the screen. Just leave the icon select for a few seconds or minutes or until the light on your computer stops blinking or the preview shows up. Then you can delete it.

  13. I once had a problem like this and it was caused by the VirtualDub framserving for some reason. Untill I unstalled the frameserving part of VirtualDub (run AuxSetup.exe in its folder, maybe also run proxyoff.reg in aviproxy folder) I could not delete an avi file. After I did this all was ok.
I have reinstalled since and ok again (even with frameserving). If the uninstall works for you then just reinstall the framserving bits when you need and uninstall after you are finished.

It was indeed the virtualdub thing that helped, thanks a lot.
