subtitles on mpg

Hi,

does anyone know how to put subs on a *.mpg file? (vcd) Whitout using *.avi format? Or can you just put subs ( *.srt or *.ssa ) on cd with movie?
I'm using Nero 5.5 and virtual dub.
How can i get a *.bmp/ *.jpg ... from an mpg?

Hope someone knows the answer or a good link.

dvd2svcd is an all i one program that may help you can find it at www.doom9.org also another good site for guides. hope it helps
