    anyone know how I can keep the quality of my avi file when converting to vcd or svcd??

    No, its not reallt possible to keep the quality of, say, a good divx dvd rip to vcd, svcd is much better if your player supports it. I would suggest using the kvcd TMPGEnc template. at: http://www.kvcd.net I've had very good success with it. Full movie on 2 cds with little quality loss.
