After trying 4 different TV tuner cards and found all of them wanting in one way or another I think having 2 installed to use for specific features will be my best option.

The cards I've decided on are:

WinTV dbx: Has the best (of the cards I've tried) native AVI capture. Not to hot with DScaler. Its PQ isn't that hot.

I/O Magic PC PVR: Very Good PQ. Works well with Dscaler. Works well as a PVR with PowerVCR. Crummy native AVI capture. No native GUI, uses PowerVCR.

    Or maybe

AverMedia AverTV Stereo: Decent PQ, works well with DScaler, Works well with PowerVCR, has the best native GUI. Crummy native AVI capture. But works the best with 3rd party drivers. Also seems to be the most stable cards. Not finiky about which slot its put in.

So maybe put the WinTV dbx and probably the AverTV in the system.
The wintv for AVI vid caps and the Aver for watching TV and PVR / timelapse.

Anyone ever tried 2 tuner cards in one system?
    What were your results?

  2. If you install two cards based on the bt848/bt878 chips then you may want to give the drivers from this link a try. I only have one TV tuner card so I cannot give you any more specific advice. I suggest you try the time-limited demo version to see if that works first for you before spending any money. Good luck with what may be a big challenge.
