  1. I have just started learning how to create XVCDs in a lower quality format so I can fit a 90 min moive on one disc. When I convert them, I can't seem to notice any real difference in the quality. The only problem (really just an inconvenience) is the fact that fast forwarding and rewinding seem to struggle a bit. Can anyone with experience please give me there oppion on XVCDs and if it is a good investment to go this route instead of spliting the movie to fit on two VCDs? Thanks

If you go the XVCD route then be aware that some players just aren't designed to play out of specification video streams
You appear to have one of these players

do you use a CBR for your encode? you could use a VBR, and get the same file size, and improve your quality. or, you could go to SVCD if your player accepts that.
what are you askin' me for...

    When I create XVCD's I use

    Video
    352 x 480 ( 576 for PAL ) Mpeg-1
    CQ - Max = 2300 Min = 300 Quality = 85% (padding enabled)
    I picture spoliage = 0
    B picture spoliage = 20
    vbv buffer size = 48
    Motion Search = Highest Quality!
    VideoCD (Nonstandard)

    Audio
    128kbps 44.1-khz Stereo

or what I'll do is create an XSVCD Mpeg2 File (using the same resolution as above) and remultiplex using the VCD (nonstandard) Template...
