  1. Hi All!
I'm trying to decide which make/format of DVD burner to buy in the next few weeks.
I know that the Pioneer A04 has a great rep. but I'm also interested in the DVD+R format for it's 4 hour recording time. 8)

The 'Player Guide' says that my Pioneer 444 stand-alone player will accept both formats (DVD-R and DVD+R) but can anybody give me a 'real-life' experience of using DVD+R on the 444?

If so, can you tell me what make/model of burner you used please?

    Thanks guys!

    Hey Sue,

    I have an HP200i DVD+R/RW burner.

I use Ulead DVD Moviefactory & Ulead DVD Workshop, both with there respective DVD+R compatibility patch, to burn discs.

I have a Pioneer DV-343 which has no problem with both DVD+R and DVD+RW discs.

So needless to say, I'm quite happy with the setup.

Please keep in mind that if you choose to go with the plus format, and ask for assistance here, you will get insulted, laughed at, and ridiculed here at VCDhelp as the majority of the members here seem to be pro dash.

The www.DVDPlusRW.org site has alot of good info on the plus format systems. If you prefer the dash format, then this site is as good as any.

Also, if your into encoding your own DVDs from various commercial sources then you should also visit www.KVCD.net. The site is run by a fellow who calls himself Kwag.

Kwag has com up with templates for TMPGenc for both VCDs and DVDs that offer incredible quality and compression. Making sure that you get the most bang for your buch when it comes to DVD burning.

    Enjoy ...

  4. Hey MoovyGuy!
A real big thanks for the info - much appreciated m8

I'm pretty shocked to hear of the 'snobbery' that's crept into this forum
I know that Baldrick and the rest of the guys are sound as a pound and don't approve of such behaviour (myself included)

I've been coming to this site for quite a while now and consider it a great place to get impartial advice on many many subjects. I don't donate money to many sites but this is one that I think definitely needs the support from us all.

After all, we're here to help each other folks .... feel free to advise people to use the DVD- over the DVD+ format if you want, but laughing and ridiculing other users isn't going to help anybody!

    Nuff said.

    Thanks again MoovyGuy!
