Just joined because I have a problem with my Pioneer DVR-630H-S HDD/DVD recorder, about 5 years old. I live in Melbourne, and have just purchased a new Panasonic Full HD Plasma and successfully connected the Pioneer unit to it. The autoscan routine found only the main free to air channels, i.e. 2, 7, 9, 10, SBS and Channel 31, but did not recognise any of the second digital FTA channels (10 in all). Does anyone have any thoughts?

Connect directly to the panasonic and scan channels ... if it came with a white antenna lead throw it in the bin as there useless and too weak to carry digital signal properly ... if still channel issue you will need to review from antenna to plasma connection for fault.
Note: If using any item designed to boost antenna signal ... remove it from the antenna line and rescan ... too often I remove these items as they are only meant to boost analog signal ... useless and interfere with digital.
The pioneer recorder should be removed from the line-up unless it can be setup with antenna bypass loop ... it is after all for analog signal which is soon to be cut off ... its useless for hdtv but if the plasma has av outputs you can record the currently viewed channel ... but recorded in dvd max scale (non-hd)
