  1. Hi. I've read through the guides and have got the capturing and encoding down (I think), but my MPEG2 files are too big to get on an 80 min SVCD.

I capture using Virtualdub and the Huffyuv 2.1.1 codec at best quality. I capture 1 HR of analog video/audio

I convert using TMPGEnc. I used the VBR 2 pass method and best (slow) quality. I tried the bitrate calculator and gave it a shot. I wound up with a 785 meg file. 2nd time, I first ran TMPGEnc in CBR, just to see what the bitrate came out to. I then used that as my average bitrate in VBR. I got a 754 Meg file that time.

Here is where I am confused. TMPEnc claims you can get 800 meg SVCD on 80 min CDR. From everything I know in normal CDR stuff, 80 min CDR hold 700 Meg. This shot shows what I mean. Can you actually get 800 Meg on 80 Min CDR? How is this possible?

When I go to burn the mpg file created with TMPGEnc with Nero 5.5, it first complains about the format which I guess is normal, then says the file is to big for the media. I can see why since its over 700 Meg.

    What am I missing here?

    Thanks![/url]

  2. if you burn it is a vcd using nero you can fit 800 megs on a 80 minutes cd. To do this you must burn it in vcd mode, not iso9660(Data)

  3. Thanks for the reply. That is the way I am doing it. I do a New -> Super VideoCD like the guide http://www.vcdhelp.com/nerosvcd.htm shows. My version of Nero (5.5.8.2) doesn't look quite the same. There is no "try to fit disk size" option. I also tried first makeing an image with VCDEasy. Same thing....ugh...any other ideas?

  6. It is a problem with Nero. VCDEasy/Fireburner can do it just fine. Thanks for the tip.
