  1. I've been recording (foolishly it would seem) directly to VCD-compliant MPEG off my tuner card. I was hoping to set up a kind of "tape all my fave shows to CD" kinda thing, and I figured editing the commercials out would be a breeze. At the time I didn't know mpeg was so ineditable.

Still, I have a buncha eps on my HD I'd like to cut the commercials out of before burning.

I've tried cutting the file up in Adobe Premiere and then re-exporting it as mpeg, and I've also tried converting it to raw avi with VirtualDub (so I wouldn't have any loss of quality) and then converting it back to MPEG, again with Premiere.

The thing is, no matter what I do, the audio ends up out of sync. I'm pretty sure premiere is doing this, but maybe there's something I'm missing either in the capture or conversion. I don't know. Maybe someone can reccomend a freeware MPEG editor, even if it means my cuts might be 15 frames or so off.
