  4. Nero is FAR FAR away from being the best S/VCD authoring/burning program.

Nero is okay for simple multitrack S/VCDs but it is hopeless for menus or anything else.

The best authoring/burning package would probably be VCDEasy (a GUI for both VCDImager which is the best/most flexible/powerful S/VCD authoring program in existence; and CDRDAO, an open source CUE/BIN burning proggy).

This also happens to be free.

For more info on VCDEasy: http://www.vcdeasy.org
For more info on VCDImager: http://www.vcdimager.org and http://www.vcdimager.org/guides

In terms of commercial programs, VideoPack5 seems pretty good.

  5. So VITUALIS, you're saying that after I download the movie of chioce. Use TMPGEnc to convert to Mpeg than use VCDEASY OR VCDIMAGER (which one), so I can copy them on disk so I can watch the movie on a my DVD?

What would be the best software for authoring DVD? VCD?
I use Studio 7 from Pinnacle for my video editing and I bought a DVD burner. What's best for making slideshows, movies, photo albulm for DVD and/or VCD? Is there such a software or do I need to get a couple to get the work done? - Thanx.

VCDEasy is a GUI (graphical user interface) to VCDImager.

For the beginner, I suggest using a GUI (like VCDEasy) than using VCDImager straight as it is simply easier.

  8. AVOID Roxio EZCD Creator if you are running Windows XP. Yes, AVOID it at any cost or you'll regret. You will end up reinstalling your XP. You'll bump into something irrecoverbable such as losing your CD-ROM drivers that not able to be fixed by anything so far. Roxio is working on it and hopefully they will solve this ridiculous problem someday.

P.S.: Updating to 5.1 won't help also. Beware! Or Regret.
