  1. I just got a 50 pack spindle of TDK 2X (silver/purple) DVD-R discs from meritline. Worked out to be $2.65 per disc I think.

These discs burn at 2X speeds in my Pioneer 104 and playback in my Apex 1600 and my Sony NS715.

    Highly reccomended!

  3. snaimpally,
Does the tdk media you bought have tdk stamped on it anywhere? Does it say made in japan? I am thinking about buying some as I use the jewel cased tdks all the time and they work great, I just want to make sure it is genuine tdk before buying. Do you have any branded tdk media you can compare it to? Sorry for all the questions but I have heard that some sellers improperly label media just to sell it. I tend to trust meritline but I want to be sure, thanks.

Okay, but according to the TDK people, they do not - repeat, do not sell their disks in 50 or 100 bulk packs. I was going to buy what were called TDK's on eBay that were in a 100 pack spindle for $189 and were 2X capable. Then, the TDK people told me that these were "knock-offs" (like the $4.99 Rolex) - they even identify themselves as "TDK" using ADVDINFO.

But then, if they work - and at 2X, then who cares who makes them? One question: How does the thickness of these blanks compare with the thickness of other brands?
