Since no one else mentioned it, and i'll propably be saying something you tried, but here goes, make sure the DVD2AVI.VFP is in the same folder as TMPGEnc, without it, it doesn't know how to handle those file types, and i'd also recommand you get the latest DVD2AVI v1.76 as it might work better in your case.

I have a number of networked W2000 PCs and often rip on one and process from another. The only times I've encountered this problem is when I am attempting to remotely access a dv2 file. If I run TMPGenc locally everything works fine.

  2. Try this problem:
    1) Did a successful encoding in TMPGenc for the first half of the movie.
    2) Lost power during the second half's encoding
    3) Now it will not recognize the DVD2AVI file, and get the same error message as the guy posting.

I find when I get these errors I have to uninstall DVD2AVI & TMPGenc (usually reinstall SmartRipper too just in case) to get it working again. Not sure what is causing it, but it is like some file is getting corrupted. Also, once it decides it doesn't like the rip, no amount of reinstalling will make it work again. Have to start from scratch.

Anyone have any suggestions? Tried several things already, and I am getting tired of it taking 2-3 days to get one movie done.

    Thanks

  3. Just out of curiasity, which Operating Systems are you guys using with TMPGEnc that is causes so much trouble reading D2V files ? i'm using Windows98SE and OS/2 Warp 4.5, and both run it without problems, all you gotta do is make sure you downloaded the VFAPI plugin for TMPGENc, and put the DVD2AVI.VFP in the same folder as TMPGEnc, and you really should not have any problems.

  4. What are VFAPI and DVD2AVI.AFP ?

I run into problem of TMPGenc not able to load VOB files to do VCDconversion.
Is this the same type of problem ?
I loaded ELECARD mpeg2 player, and TMPGenc now is able to load VOB files,
but it only able to convert 500MB or the 1GB VOB file and "HALT".

  5. Hey, I got it to work just fine. I don't know what i did, but it works now. After I finally got the d2v file to read, I burned countless vcd's and none of them worked on my player. I finally took one of the vcd's to my sister's house who has a Pioneer DV333 and they played fine!

So, now i need a new player. There's aparently a new Panasonic that my friend just got which plays everything including mp3's.

Thanks for all your help guys!

  7. If you're cheap like me, get the apex 500w at wal mart for $94.99, it plays mp3, vcd, everything. Plus I compared the Matrix on my apex to my neighbors $300 sony dvd player and mine had a better looking picture (less squares in the black areas). I'm not sure about sound though, since I don't really care about surround, just if it's decent.

  8. Anyone who buys a Sony doesn't buy quality, they buy the name, cause for some really strange reason, they think the name will give them quality no matter how much they pay for it
